This past Friday, we took a trip south with Luxemburg Speedway having the night off. We ended up heading south to Gravity Park Speedway looking to come home with our first feature win of the season.
In the heat race, I got up to the 3rd spot quickly from my 7th place starting spot. After a caution, I suffered some damage to the left side of my car, which ended up busting the LR shock off the car. I was still able to continue and finish the race in 2nd.
In the feature, I started in the 6th spot and looked to the outside to make my way towards the front. I battled numerous times with Rick Kretschmann and Tim Warner for the lead, but in the end, I wasn’t able to make the pass on the outside and settled for a 2nd place finish.
On Sunday we went back out to Outagamie Speedway in Seymour. I started 5th in the heat race and used the bottom groove to battle for the lead with Randy Theys. I came off of turn 1 about halfway through the race and felt something happen to the car. Damage to our LR tire from the heat race on Friday ended up shredding the tire and forcing us to the pits.
I would end up having to start 10th in the B-main, with the top 4 finishers advancing to the feature. I worked my way through traffic to the 4th spot, dropping to the bottom of the track to pick off the top 3 and take the victory.
Starting 17th in the feature, I took my time finding what line would work the best to start the charge through the field. I ended up staying up high on the track, making my way up to the top 10 with about 7 laps remaining. From there, I passed several cars in the final laps to end up in 7th.
We’ll be back in action this Friday night at Luxemburg and also on Sunday night in Seymour.
