On Friday night at Luxemburg Speedway, it was an exciting night for me as I found my way into victory lane by virtue of winning the semi-feature. After navigating my way through cars flying all over the place in my heat race, I was just one spot out of a transfer position, which set me up on the pole for the semi-feature.
I took off on the start and led the first 5 laps, as Ryan LeMieux was starting to reel me in. A caution flag flew which bunched up the field, and I was able to fend off LeMieux to take home the win. Unfortunately, in the feature I had made a pass on the inside of Brandon Long and Chad Kaminski, but got a little loose in the next corner. I could feel a tap on my back bumper, and the combination of events sent me into the infield. By the time I could throw it in reverse and get back on the track, I was already lapped.
On Saturday night at Thunderhill, my car was handling great in the heat race, and it was just a matter of getting an opening to shoot to the front. Once I got myself out in space, I was able to move my way up to the 3rd spot, and eventually track down Jason LaViolette in 2nd. Coming into turn 3 on the final lap I clipped an infield tire, but still managed to secure the 2nd spot.
I got the pole position draw for the feature, and off the start I could tell that something wasn’t quite right with the car. I fell back to 4th place, and then later back to 6th spot behind Chris Benes. The race remained single file throughout, going green-to-checkers with us finishing in the 6th spot. That was a blessing for us, as we found that my upper A frame on the left front was busted. A little luck was on our side, as it didn’t do any further damage to the other suspension parts, and was still drivable.
Next week we’ll be back at Luxemburg Speedway for sure, and then we’ll see how the weather shapes up to see if we’ll run on Saturday or Sunday.
