With only a few weeks before the start of the 2012 racing season, race teams all over the country are scrambling to put the finishing touches on their rides to be ready for season openers. It is no different for our team, as we pull our IMCA northern sportmod out of hibernation and ready it for action.
The 2012 offseason has been a turbulent one, with many questions surrounding area tracks including Luxemburg Speedway in Luxemburg, WI and Thunderhill Raceway in Sturgeon Bay, WI. For Luxemburg, longtime promoter Rick Goral and the Lakeshore Motorsports Promotions staff stepped down from their duties, leaving the position vacant for the upcoming season.
Though the position went unfilled for a few months, Gene Mathu of WCM Motorsports is stepping up to fill the void left by Rick and crew, assuring that racing will go on as planned this summer.
The same cannot be said for Thunderhill, as questions still remain as to whether the track will open. If the track would open, it is possible that it will run on a new night, giving up the Saturday night slot it has coveted for many years.
Our schedule for 2012 racing will consist of weekly stops at Luxemburg Speedway, our hometown track, with a possibility that we may run 141 Speedway in Francis Creek, WI full-time on Saturday nights as well. Also, several stops at Seymour Speedway in Seymour, WI will be on tap as well.
141 Speedway has also stepped up with a giveaway for sportmod drivers who run 75% of their shows in 2012. All drivers eligible will be entered in a drawing for a brand new 2012 Harris chassis, which would be an upgrade to our 2005 chassis.
Our first race of the season is likely to be 141 Speedway’s season opener on Saturday, April 14th. We are awaiting schedules to be released for Luxemburg and Seymour.
We would like to thank all of our 2012 sponsors for being on board. University Avenue Market of Green Bay is back for the 2nd year in a row, increasing their commitment to the team from 2011. Their logo will appear on all of our 2012 in-car videos, shot with a GoPro HD Motorsports Hero camera.
Also returning are budzodesigns.com of Luxemburg, Demon Race Engines of Luxemburg, Kroll Racing Fabrication of New Franken, Vlies Custom Race Car Bodies of Kewaunee, Shop Night Podcast of Embarrass and 1330 Wraps of Green Bay. We would also like to welcome Jerovetz Motorsports Shocks & Service of Green Bay to the team for the 2012 season.
We look forward to a great season, and hope to build upon our success from 2011. Budzo Racing can be found on the web at www.budzoracing.com, on Facebook at facebook.com/budzoracing, on YouTube at youtube.com/budzoracing and on Twitter at twitter.com/budzoracing.
