Disappointing Night at Luxemburg Speedway for Budzo Racing

Only one night of racing was in store for us this past weekend, as our plans were to race Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night and head back to Thunderhill Raceway on Saturday. We made the trek up to Door County on Saturday to be greeted by rain showers just as we got the show underway.

On Friday night, I started 3rd in my heat race, and should have stayed on the bottom groove of the track. I decided to go up high, and quickly dropped back to 6th place, fighting to try to get back up into the top five. I fell back another spot to 7th, but then battled back to race for the final transfer spot on the final lap. A lapped car would make things difficult, and I ended up finishing 6th.

That finish set me up on the inside pole for the semi-feature, and that race was smooth sailing from the start. I took the early lead on the bottom of the track, but Brandon Long was able to keep his momentum going on the top line to motor past me for the win. I would finish the race in 2nd, transferring to the feature.

Our feature setup woes would come up again, as I didn’t make any forward movement during the race. Thankfully the only incident on the track I was able to avoid, which was on the opening lap, so the car came home without any damage. I was officially scored with a 17th place finish.

This weekend we’re planning on trying out the half mile at Shawano Speedway on Saturday night, along with our weekly stop at Luxemburg Speedway on Friday night as well.
