This past week featured a 4-day stretch of racing for the team, as we ran at the 11th annual Clash at the Creek special at 141 Speedway on Wednesday and Thursday nights, and followed that up with racing at Luxemburg Speedway and The Hill Raceway on Friday and Saturday.
We had decent success on both nights at 141. I had to run the B-main on the first night, making the feature and started in the 23rd position. From there, I was able to avoid any damage and worked up to a 15th place finish.
On Thursday, I was able to win my heat race and draw for a good spot to start the feature. Unfortunately I drew one of the higher numbers from the available chips, putting us 9th on the starting grid. After not making any progress running the bottom of the track, I went up to the high side and tried to make up a few positions. We would end up finishing in 10th place.
On Friday at Luxemburg, we had a decent heat race and ended up finishing in 3rd. Starting 6th in the feature I had hoped to break into the top 4 again, but we struggled to get any traction and fell back to an 8th place finish.
Frustrated by our efforts on Friday night, we changed a few things in the setup for Saturday at The Hill. We ran into an issue with our RR shock binding in the mount in the heat race, and got that fixed up for the feature. Starting 9th, I quickly broke into the top 5 in the opening laps and started working the outside of the racetrack after a caution flag flew. With about 7 laps to go, I was able to make a run around the leaders and grab the lead with 4 to go. Lapped traffic almost put an end to our night, but the damage was not enough to stop us from going on to capture the win.
