2018 Regular Season Ends With 3 Top-5 Finishes

After finishing 15th at Luxemburg Speedway with a borrowed car, we made up for it with a 2nd place finish in the 2nd to last points night. That finish put us within 5 points of the lead heading into championship night.

Later that same weekend, we went to Outagamie Speedway to test out a new setup. We started 10th in the feature and it was a struggle in the early going to get through traffic. After a caution flag flew, we were able to get to the outside lane of the track and make our way into the top 5. I got all the way up to 2nd before another caution flag flew.

The track rules do not allow for lane choice in the features, so we were stuck restarting on the bottom. I got shuffled back to 6th but was able to fight back to finish 4th at the end.
The following week we went to 141 Speedway for a little more testing, and we easily won the heat race from the 6th starting spot. However, the feature did not go as well was we hoped, where we started in the 7th spot and ended up finishing 8th.

Unfortunately for us, championship night at Luxemburg was cancelled after fighting a persistent rain shower after starting the heat races. Once again, we ended up finishing 2nd in the final points standings. This would be the 3rd year in a row that we finished 2nd, and the 5th time in the last 6 years.

We also made a trip to The Hill Raceway this past weekend, where we started 7th in the heat race and finished 5th. Later in the evening, we started 5th in the feature and ended up finishing in the 3rd spot.

Our plan is to run the special at Luxemburg on the 15th, along with the special at Outagamie Speedway on the 22nd.
